Sarah Frieberg Fine Art

My art examines the conditions of human vulnerability and systems of protection through an in-depth introspection of personal trauma. By exploring both abstract and literal expressions, the work delves into the unconscious, the unseeable, and the natural world where the threads of existence intertwine.

Inspired by a need to unearth implicit beliefs, I am exploring the connections between nature, human behavior, and the intangible. I see these as interconnected forces—organic, psychological, and non-physical—that inform one another and represent a shared experience.

As I delve deeper into how these elements shape our shared behaviors and emotions, I draw upon my studies in horticulture, alchemical reactions, and materiality, alongside a profound appreciation for nature. My current body of work merges plant morphology with human emotions by creating new species expressed through botanical rendering. Each plant is intentionally designed to adhere to its specific ecological parameters while simultaneously manifesting psychological conditions rooted in the concept of protection.
